Learn how to set a guitar
If you've ever wondered how to set up your guitar, your guitar or four, five or six strings of his car, which is in the right place. Read on.
It is strongly recommended that you change the strings before you start, proper installation and although it is not absolutely necessary.
* In all the explanations below, the wrist is pointing to the left.
In the case of an electric guitar has a Floyd Rose or a bridge, want the block before proceeding. The most convenient way if you do not have many tools at their disposal is as follows: remove the plastic cover behind his guitar, a coin with a choice of lean meat or protruding part of the bridge and body down until the gap between the flat part of the bridge (just below the bridge pickup) and body 3 / 32. "Loosen and adjust the springs to" A "440.
If your guitar has a Floyd Rose tremolo system, add photos and coins to the bridge level of the body, then remove the water and set the standard "A" 440.
Electric Guitar Setup Step 1: Set Truss
We are to avoid touching the strings of the frets and buzzing as they vibrate. Put a capo on the first box, and click on the fifth string 17th fret finger (I use half), while raising the 6th string to the nail is pressed against.
Use candles for a gauge to measure the distance between the above the 12th fret and the bottom of the fifth string.
Fender Telecaster: 0.012
Fender American Standard, vintage 0012
Gibson: 0.004 to 0.006
Floyd Rose 0012
Guitars: 0014
Adjust the truss rod with an Allen wrench. Turn right (the first string) to loosen and clockwise (to the 6th rope) to tighten.
Note: If you have access to the mother farm just below the last fret instead of the nut, reverse direction.
Game Action:
This means that the adjustment of the height of the strings.
With the capo is the first case, assess the space between the bottom of strings and top of the seventeenth fret with a 6-inch rule 64. Use the table below only as a rough guide, explore the options that are at the height suits you.
Fender Telecaster 4 / 64 "
Fender American Standard, vintage 4/64th-inch
Gibson 3/64th-inch or 4/64th-inch
Floyd Rose4/64th-inch
3/32nd-inch Guitars
Remove the hood and adjust the standard "A" 440
Guitar Setup Step 2: Adjust the height of the pick-up
Determine the distance between the top of your pick-up and worry about the bottom of the strings (1 and 6) in support of the latter. Adjustments.
Fender Telecaster-6: 3/32nd-inch, 1: 5 / 64 "
Fender American Standard, harvesting session: 1 / 8 ", 1: 3/32nd-inch
Gibson-3/64nd-inch or 4/64nd-inch
Floyd Rose session: 1/8th-inch first: 3/32nd-inch. If you have humbuckers on both sides 3/32nd-inch
Ultra-Plus 1 / 16 "on each side
4 string bass guitar-4: 1 / 8 ", 1 3 / 32." Or, on both sides 1/16th-inch.
5 and 6 strings of a guitar-bass 6th/5th: 7/64th-inch, 1: 5 / 64 "
The general idea is that the microphones should give a signal of similar intensity, regardless or a chain of micro.
Test to determine whether the drone strings and adjustments. Eliminate fret buzz is neither likely nor critical. Set so that the guitar is comfortable to play, and the buzz can not be heard by the receiver.
Electric Guitar Setup Step three: set the tone
Tune your guitar power with an electronic tuner, using natural harmonics at the twelfth fret. When you press the string at the 12th fret, you will notice a similar tone.
If the tuner says it is too flat, then shorten the vibrating string by adjusting the saddle. If it is too large, elongated portion vibrant.
After the enlargement or reduction, giving the natural harmonic and repeat until you exit the way you want.
However, if your guitar has a bridge or a Floyd Rose tremolo system, put the springs in place and slowly tighten until the peaks or currencies fall. Place the plastic cover in place, and you're done!
