Removing Epiphone Knobs

Is this a safe way to paint my guitar?
I paint my Epiphone Les Paul finish EVH style. However, I have no money to get it professionally painted, so I want to do it myself. Currently, I have put tape where I want to peak white stripes. My plan is to cover the rest of the guitar (pickups, buttons and all) in the tape, then remove the tape and put the pin in black spray paint when the tape is lifted. I'm just worried about how this will affect my electronics. I imagine he's covered in duct tape that will be fine, but I'm not sure. Does this method damage my electronics?
You would be better to remove all hardware. If you rely on masking tape electrical system could be damaged by spray paint particles entering in the coils of their trucks. Will also overlap with the paint, even with tape, and this will only be very poor. Knobs and switches are fairly easy take off with a wrench / crescent wrench. Pills can be loosened in the corners of the rectangle of plastic that is set a. What I did in the past was to cut the cables between the truck and body. First label with a sticker just for you get them in the correct position when it comes to welding it back together.
