Guitar - Beyond the chord chart
We've all been there - shortly after seizing our first guitar we know that to play something that people are going to hear that we need to "learn a few chords. These chords first for most beginners end up being open position chords, down on the first fret.
Soon we began to associate these basic chords shapes - E, A, D, C and G forms. These five forms are more fundamental than originally seems, because once it is mastering the dreaded F chord, or more accurately, "E-shaped bar, which immediately feel liberated - now we can create variations of major and minor chords, up and down the neck.
Some stop there. Some may even come to realize "A shape barre" (Based on chain A) can widen our scope of tone and express a little more. It is true that these two forms are really mobile enough for most media today-of-the-road rock music. You can write great songs with a mixture of the five forms open position, and these two forms of bar, even epic!
But why stop there? Why limit yourself to everyone? There is much more to discover in the fingerboard. different voicings - voicings that can make a chord in their own sound 10 times more intricate vegetation. The truth is, as guitarists enter their second years of playing these chords begin to sound permanently, well ... a bit boring.
Too many guitarists are losing in the production of music that is astounding, let alone others, due to his affair with the chord chart quick reference, learning parrot fashion, shrugging off any understanding of "what the chord that sounds like voice ... here" and to know your options.
You may be thinking "this sounds complicated, Where I can go from here? What do I need to learn to be able to think outside the box when it comes to building chords interesting? "
One word to make some jump in his guitar case - Theory String
Chord theory is an area of the guitar that does not necessarily have to be pretentious, elitist or just for the jazz / classical guitarists. Explanation and learned the right way, knowing some basic theory of guitar chords can open a plant composition in the head, producing products directly on your guitar.
There are 5 steps you must take to reach your guitar chord nirvana (and I mean the band!) The first 3 you probably already have ...
1) Learn the 5 ways barre chords (E, A, C, D and G)
2) Learn the major scale of 8 (yes, eight) positions different ways around these bar
3) Use your knowledge of the major scale to create triads and extended chords 7ths in several positions the fingerboard. This is the foundation to build unique and interesting chord voicings.
4) Use your knowledge of the construction of chords create a unique chord voicings with investments around the fingerboard.
5) Do not forget to "float" in line sometimes with open strings.
Once you invest some of their practice time learning basic chord theory (does not take much time to pick up), you begin to investigate the pitch second nature. Will you come with chord progressions and really use your ears to identify the "right" according to the change. His play opens to a diverse range of styles.
Most of all though, the creation of original music that is truly unique "that" will not be limited by the size of a chord chart - is limited only by the six strings of his guitar.
