Gibson Epiphone Strings

How to play Stevie Ray Vaughan / blues rock just another in a Epiphone Sheraton 2?
The Epiphone Sheraton 2 is basically a cheaper version the Gibson ES 335. Basically does not handle well with the distortion alone. How I can improve my sound with this kind of music will help raise the action or use a string gauge higher?
If you can play music, then it really does not matter what is playing. Where? As a blues player (and all other types of music) for 45 years, I must clarify a few things. Put your mind at ease about the "tone and sound" of other players. When Stevie Ray recorded a single, it would use up to six different amps, all at the same time, in isolated rooms, all with tones ranging from a heavy distortion light shade. All these colors are mixed to create "the perfect tone." Billy Gibbons even going so far as to use amplifiers in different rooms, mixing in concert in vivo, to create "your" tone. Amplifiers you see, not hear amplifiers. Not so caught up in that. This brings me to my next point. The Doobie Brothers song "China Grove" was recorded with a cheap guitar silver, because the "cheapness" lent to "lewd and crude tone" you need. I have many guitars, and I make my living as a luthier, so trust me, all guitars are beautiful. Sitting next to me here and now is a Martin D28S, guitar Custom Leah (my guitars are Leah) and $ 30 size guitar Oscar Schmidt 2.1. I can, and play SRV, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Allison Krauss, Santana, Leo Kottke, and on and on. My friends love the songs. I never care what you play. Remember, all guitars are beautiful. The Epiphone you have is a blues guitar. Play and be proud of the music you hear. Chains can affect how you play, and his tone. The most popular for the blues would be a little heavier than the rock. Starting in 0010, but do not go too heavy (like SRV), which will ruin your guitar neck and fingers. Action or string height is also a matter of feeling. Rock players as low. Easier to play fast. Blues players are not as concerned with the speed for most players have a slightly higher action. Allows more physical style of play. I like the strings to be high enough that when bending a string up the chain next to it reach the tip of my finger and not pass under the fingertip. This is demanding, I know, after 40 years or more, you get that way a little. Sorry. I hope this helps.
