Gibson Epiphone Prices
Should I buy a Les Paul Gibson or Epiphone Lucille? that cost about the same. the gibson a little more?
I want a new guitar and I'm torn between Lucille and Gibson Epiphone Les Paul. The Gibson Les Paul is a bit more in price, but i figure the more valuable gibson. i blues and classic rock game. I have a fender squire start now.
An Epi Lucille goes for $ 699, so I guess that means this type of satin $ 799 Les Paul (which, if ever played one, is basically an unfinished guitar.) http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Les-Paul-Studio-Electric-Guitar?sku=517030 are obviously very different types guitars. EPI is a great guitar semi-hollow body is nicely finished and has lots of bells and whistles, such as fine tuners and knob control of tone. I've played before and is a very nice guitar - if you like that kind of ax hollow body. However, it is an Epiphone, so resale value is not so great. OTOH, the Gibson is a very rough finish solid body Les Paul - it has almost no reason to end it all. I played one before a couple of times and seeded and basically, the unfinished neck always feels funny to me. I guess I'm used to the more common and more sophisticated sanding, painting, and destination Les Paul neck. May be smaller than that of Lucille, but is as heavy as Les Paul guitars are known to be heavy. However, it is a Gibson, so the value resale may be a little better - but in reality probably is not much compared to Lucille. It's your call. Both guitars have their pros and cons. I would try to play both, if I could - but this was not possible because both are relatively rare guitars. At the end of the day, I think that comes from a Squire Start, you're probably going to be happier with the Les Paul. More than a rock and roll guitar (as opposed to blues and jazz like Lucille) and I guess that is probably more your style. Rock on.
