Epiphone Les Paul Standard vs Korina 1985 Explorer?

Im getting an electric guitar and I can not decide what to get ... Im looking to play more as Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer and the like 30 seconds to mars for the alternative side. I know that if I want pure RHCP or mayer, I would have to go with a start, but I want to be as close as possible with a gibson and I can not decide between the two. Any opinions? Both are greta guitar I would choose the Explorer, but that's just my personal taste in guitars.
