Gibson Epiphone History

Epiphone G-400 Review - a worthy replacement SG?
Although they can not have much weight (figuratively) like the iconic Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG is still a significant part of the history of rock and roll, like Angus Young can attest.
Everyone from Eric Clapton Tony Iommi has Gibson SG adopted by ear piercing. Since not everyone can afford the sale price of $ 1.200 for Gibson, however, its sister company makes an affordable Epiphone SG model, the. G-400
Since the Epiphone G-400 is clearly cheaper, we must discover how well it "stacks up" to his brother, the Gibson SG.
Features
The Epiphone G-400 is built with a mahogany body and mahogany neck. It has two humbuckers Alnico V, a rosewood fingerboard inlaid with trapeze, chrome hardware and tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece stop.
Performance
We have zero niggles regarding the cherry finish, which is just beautiful and looks great in the mahogany body of the instrument. The shape of SG itself is perfect. If not for the name in the head the instrument would be the picture of a Gibson SG.
The mother-of-pearl inlays are beautifully done, although we did find some small trace residues glue on the edges. Similarly, we found some traces of glue holding the joint of the neck in place, but these disputes aside, it was determined the quality of construction to be very well done.
Intonation of the instrument was easy to set up and was very good, but we want the bridge saddles were not as cutting as they are. The instrument had its tuning very well even after a radical bent.
The instrument plays well, very well suited for any style of music. We realized the buzzes and rattles aa couple here and there, but set the action fairly low, and there was none of these sounds through an amplifier.
I'm of the belief that a good guitar has to sound arrogant disconnected, and G-400 does not disappoint in this area either. It is vibrant and resonant, and provides an important support, impressive given the low weight of the guitar.
Acoustic guitar tones were sorry for the game words, "amplified" when connected to our test amp, a Dr. Z MAZ-18 NR. The tablets of the G-400 offers a very balanced tone, very useful for many different styles.
We are hearing of the pellets in the three categories of change and find tones useful in all areas using clean and distorted amp / pedal sounds. When you actually went for a metal sound (with a Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde pedal), we think that the instrument was a bit muddy sounding, but really is not a criticism, considering what this guitar is hot toppingly in general.
Therefore, if you want to play this instrument in a Judas Priest tribute band, you might want to put some hotter pickups with a little sharper bite.
The baseline
Not much to say. The Epiphone G-400 is a wonderful guitar at a great price. If you want an economic instrument that can cover a lot of ground noise, you can not go wrong with the G-400.
