History
During the years 1970 and 1980, some Japanese companies using names like Ibanez Guitar, Tkai, Burny, Greco and were making high quality copies of Fender and Gibson guitars. Some brands are sold only in the Japanese market, but other brands such as Ibanez were exported from Japan. Fender and Gibson opened Japanese branch divisions to make guitars in Japan with Fender / Squier or Gibson Epiphone brand names for the Japanese market.
Fender Japan established in 1982 and contracted Yamano Gakki (Japanese) and Kanda Shokai (Japanese) to oversee the production and distribution of Fender Japan in cooperation with Fender. Yamano Gakki (Gakki stands for the company musical instruments) are one of Japan's largest musical instrument dealers / retailers and Kanda Shokai is one of Japan's largest music distributors instrument. Gibson Epiphone Japan established in late 1970 with the production and distribution is being managed by Aria in collaboration with Gibson.
The Aria and Gibson Epiphone Japan alliance ended in 1986 and in 1987 obtained Yamano Gakki Epiphone Gibson dealer in Japan. Yamano Gakki distributed Gibson and Epiphone guitars Korea and also produced a limited range of semi acoustic guitars, Epiphone Japan in collaboration with Gibson. In 1988 Yamano Gakki decided to extend the range of Epiphone Japan model to include models of solid body and semi acoustic models.
Gibson and Yamano Gakki decided not to use the mark to extend the range Epiphone models and so the name of Orville was elected in his place. Orville is the first name of the company founder Orville Gibson Gibson. When the series by Orville Gibson was launched in 1988, Gibson was also selling Gibson guitars, made in USA, the Japanese-made Epiphone guitars, Epiphone guitars and Korean-Japanese. The Orville Gibson and Orville series were distributed by Yamano Gakki and were priced somewhere between the guitars Gibson-made Epiphone guitars and Korean manufacturing.
There were a number of changes in Orville and Orville Gibson model range between its inception in 1988 and end in 1998 shown in the shopping section Release retailers. The series was discontinued in Orville by Gibson and Yamano Gakki 1998, the decision to export an extended range model that included Epiphone solid body and semi models acoustic. Gibson and Yamano Gakki ended their relationship in late 2006.

Serial numbers
There were two Japanese guitar factories involved in all the Orville by Gibson and Orville production and Terada (Japan) and Fuji-Gen (Japanese). The Gibson Les Paul Book by Tony Bacon and Paul Day (1993) mentioned that both the Orville Gibson and Orville guitars, including the K Orville guitars (1989-1993) conducted in Japan. When the series by Orville Gibson began in 1988, Fuji-Gen were concentrating on making Fender Japan bolt-on neck guitars and so the G Series by Orville Gibson and K Orville guitars placed on the neck did everything by Terada. Fuji-Gen started make Orville Gibson guitar in late 1992 and Orville guitars established in 1993 after Fuji-Gen Hirooka Inc in November 1991. After opening Fuji-Gen Hirooka Inc, Fuji-Gen resumed large-scale production of the guitar placed on the neck. After Fuji-Gen Gakki Yamano were hired in late 1992, Fuji-Gen were assigned to do most of Orville Gibson and solid body guitars and Orville Terada displaced from its traditional role of all that semi acoustic guitars. The production of solid-body guitars Terada K Orville and Terada most solid body guitars G series of Orville Gibson was completed in 1993 as a result.
Fuji-Gen and Terada use different serial number formats (by Orville Gibson Terada box sticker). Terada uses a G or a letter J in the beginning of the number series and Fuji-Gen uses a serial number consists of only numbers and letters that do not. The letter G Terada serial number basically meant "pills Gibson" and the letter J Terada serial number, basically, was to "Japanese vans." When K Orville guitars made between 1989 and 1993, were the Terada factory Guitar only make all guitars Orville and Orville Gibson. The Orville Gibson and Orville SG EB-3 bass guitars that were priced at more than 90,000 yen gave them the numbers Terada letter G series. The lowest price (K) Orville guitars that were priced below 75,000 yen and they were given serial numbers by Terada. No serial numbers are always essential when only a guitar factory is doing all the guitars, like the dealer (Yamano Gakki) knows exactly what guitar factory made to the guitar, even when the guitar does not have guitar factory identification serial number. As Terada was the only guitar factory to make all Orville guitars between 1989 and 1993, did not need to serialize the guitars (K) Orville who did more for the first time in the market or intermediate players.
When the guitars (K) Orville were released for sale to retail between 1989 and 1993, Yamano Gakki year applied to date (K) label with the serial number for the number warranty tracking number. The serial number prefix letter K represents Kuramae that is where the division of wholesale Yamano Gakki found. The highest price Orville by Orville Gibson SG EB-3 bass guitars were Yamano Gakki and Terada top priority in the early years and were made to the market for intermediate players and professional both were given serial numbers to be in line with the practice of using Gibson Guitar Serial Numbers Gibson. Letter prefixes number series are generally used when more than a guitar factory may be making the same make and model of guitar at the same time. When Fuji-Gen joined with Terada in making the Orville Gibson guitar in late 1992 and Orville guitars in 1993, the serial numbers were used on all guitars Orville both Fuji-Gen and Terada with Terada using a number of standard letter J for all Orville guitars made after the K Orville guitars ended in 1993. 1993 75.000 yen a K Orville Les Paul and 1996 75.000 yen a letter J numbered series Orville Les Paul guitars are basically the same made by Terada.
