Examination of the Blues genre
The Blues is an impulse to keep painful details and episodes of a brutal experience alive in aching consciousness, to jagged grains finger, and to transcend, not the consolation of philosophy but by squeezing from a near tragic, near comic lyricism.
Blues is the name given both a form and musical genre created within African American communities in the Deep South of the United States in the late 19 th century spirituals, work songs, Field screams, shouts and chants, rhymes and simple narrative ballads.
It is a form of Afro-American who has been a modal melody harmonized with Western tonal chords and has evolved from an unaccompanied vocal music and oral traditions of African American slaves (imported from West Africa, mainly Mali today, Senegal, Gambia and Ghana) and rural blacks in a wide variety of styles and subgenres, with regional variations in the United States. Blues music also adopted elements of the "Ethiopian airs", minstrel shows and Negro spirituals, including instrumental and harmonic accompaniment.
Blues are often intensely personal, frequently contain sexual references and often deal with the pain of betrayal, desertion, and unrequited love or with unhappy situations such as unemployment, hunger, without money, far from home, alone or shot by a faithless lover.
It can be subdivided into several sub-genres ranging from country to urban blues were more or less popular at different periods of the 20th century. Blues shuffles reinforce bass or walking rhythm of trance and call and response, and form a repetitive effect called groove.
