Why Gibson Pick-Ups are the best!

For years or decades I've played electric guitar in bands at bars, schools, concerts and recording sessions however, I can not say the pick-ups (p / u) were about. I mean, I had no idea of what a pick-up did what my sound. Gibson grew up in a family. I mean, my family, if not ridicule me for my participation as a rock and roll guitarist, said that if I played guitar, had to be a Gibson. Therefore, I only had a clue about the type of Gibson humbucker pickup uses. Oh yes, it's little brother the P-90.

My first electric was a Tiesco Del Ray I have for Christmas 1967. Mattel gave me a guitar that Tiger was plastic and uses a type of contact with the collection. My brother and every XMAS one has so often I'd use one of the pick-up as a vocal microphone.

Electric Strings days were very limited in the types and sizes available to young people of the city poor as yours truly. I think I only remember Gibson, Fender and Black Diamond strings. This is before the Maestro Fuzz and Vox Wha-Wha were available to the buying public like me. Back to pick up!

With limited information about how stars were "the sound "just keep trying to learn guitar without phonograph" how to "magazines and poor sounding 45 players playing in a small speaker. You could say that there was no reason to distinguish between the P / U.

In the mid 70's and was playing full time and knew of vintage Les Pauls and FAP legendary pick-up that were installed in them. At that time a NY Co. was making a name for themselves as a replacement for your type of mark is not Gibson (humbucking) pickup, DeMarzio. I ended up buying one for my Windows 76. Now that he had since the mid 60's, one at the end of the 50 Epiphone Coronet symmetrical finish cherry, I think someone called cobalt pick-up. It is known as the "P-90", or "soap bar" type single coil pick-up. I loved that the guitar and its sound. I thought there should be a "real vintage" sounding guitar with a humbucking p / u installed. He also owned a Les Paul Deluxe with the mini humbuckers. That sounds good, I thought that there should be full size p / u sound and look good. To quote Ian Hunter, mid 70, s "guitarist rock seem to have this fetish Gibson ", and I did! wanted the" look ".

Pinillos Gil, the guitarist playing with others I was using distortion DeMarzio super humbucking, and I for some reason do not feel good about their sound and feel, although it was touted as "Heaven Sent" sort of thing Marshall amplifiers especially at the time (no master volume on the pre-amplifier). Finally I bought a Super 2 p / u, since it has more bite. And to me, means that reduced through cleaner and not as transparent in the mix. I even bought Alembic Heat "Rod Kit for my 56 Les Paul Jr. (stupid) in 1976 or 77. That was supposed to be a good idea because it was warmer (better sound) with a ceramic magnet to install, and as it was in Alembic (from California) and not an "upstart p / manufacturer or" it was right. I did not think of DeMarzio pick-up and I did not know that the pick-up is used ceramic magnets of the time.

When I started recording in recording studios I learn to discern my sound. I had no way of magazines hip me that elusive vintage "sound." However, I could hear my Gibson Explorer and my Les Paul Jr. distorting attack approach at all levels of volume, as well. It simply is not smooth. I was puzzled. Still trying to connect the look with the sound, I ran through the maze of years.

Not have the patience or the money to buy and compare p / u, I just tried to make a sound I had. Pro teams had all right. However, I was looking back, "wagging the dog."

A tone of much of the fingers on the guitar to P / U. If not start there, which is turning in circles and end up with a clear (fuzzy) disembodied sound and response. "Your fingers are your tone generators." No amplifiers or pedals. These are tools to increase their expression. And if you learn anything about solving problems on the fly, gets off the line to find the problem with the sound and equipment drilling. The same applies to finding your sound. When you set the sound to start with you, through the collection to the amplifier. With the solution problems on stage, you should start with the amp and get the return line. Which makes sense since you've created your team created, and is trying to fix what was working, make a copy of the track. If not, you're going around in circles, again!

Then I had a friend who made the point of how some collection of online and PAF no. Soon tried two 57 classic pick-up is installed on my 92 Classic Les Paul and you know it? He had a sound that was scarce in the background playing at the top and honking clear / dirty media when he played hard and subtle soft tones when backed down and play lightly. I was in heaven! And how great it was to was that this was the same, regardless of the volume setting on the guitar.

My experience was that the tone you have in total could be brilliant and adjusted to playing the trumpet, and as soon as I stepped back as the guitar volume, tone, acquiring a dark or dull. This meant it would take a long time tweeking the mix of my rhythm (clean & crunch) and lead tones. Everyone was looking for a drag and a waste of time!

I am not a technician. so I can not and do not waste your time with me making technical specifications. I know there's something in the combination of copper wire and enamel coated magnet alloy steel give me a sound that can play and use dynamics. It was shortly after I started using the Gibson 57 Classic pick-up, which came with Gibson 57 Classic Plus. This p / u was designed as a bridge p / u.

In the 50, s the girls in the pick-up department. end these pick-up, using an hourglass or something. Sometimes would be distracted and some pick-up that ends with more wind. Sometimes they end up with less.

The p / u, more sounded "warmer" and when people began to get the tone, which had in the sound of some of the collection, in comparison to others. It was a genius to reach the idea of putting one of those "hot" pick-up in the bridge position you would have to wear a bright tone, firm, and where there was honk'n. And a whole new market sub in 'vinatge' pick-up 'Was produced.

Which brings us full circle, I use Gibson Pick-ups and I am sure that the alloy steel other quality brands are pick-ups a product of good sound. I know what sounds good to me and what I know of "my" experience. I am a guitarist who has been around the block and my ears have a sense of what a pickup should sound, that's what I go through all the time.
