Predictable Serial Number Attack $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A predictable serial number attack is a form of security exploit in which the algorithm for generating serial numbers for a particular purpose is guessed, discovered, or reverse engineered, a new serial number is predicted using the algorithm, and the newly generated serial number is then used for a fraudulent purpose, either to obtain an undeserved benefit or to deny service to the legitimate holder of the serial number. Suppose there is a phone card available for sale that offers telephone service by entering the serial number printed on the card. Alice legitimately purchases a phone card in order to call Bob, and her card has the serial number 0003. The attacker, Mallory, also purchases two phone cards, and notices that the serial numbers printed on her phone cards are 0001 and 0002. After consuming the value on cards 0001 and 0002, Mallory guesses the algorithm used for generating these serial numbers is a simple sequence and predicts that 0003 is a valid serial number, enters 0003 when prompted, and gets additional phone service. Sony Broadway $60.54 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Sony Broadway was a label started by Sony Music in 1991 to reissue many of the classic Columbia Records original cast recordings on CD. Most of the big hit shows had been issued already on the Columbia label, but collectors wanted some of the less wellknown titles. The new label was launched with much fanfare and a promise to digitally remaster every cast album in Columbias vast catalogue. The first order of business was to release the titles collectors had been frequently requesting. The new CDs included elaborate booklets with extensive liner notes and photos. Sony spared no expense to ensure the discs looked and sounded as good as possible. The earliest of these recordings were mono masters from the early LP days. Sometimes alternate takes had to be used when the original tapes/discs were damaged or otherwise unusable. Once in a while these alternate takes yielded some bonuses: dialogue and portions of songs that had not previously been heard. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F.
