Epiphone Hummingbird or Takamine Jasmine?
I want to buy a cheap acoustic guitar and asked me what ya'll think would be better - a Takamine or Epiphone? If possible, you should go to a guitar shop and play them both before deciding. Epiphone makes guitars very well, but the necks are a bit on the side of the fat, which may make it harder for beginners or people with small hands to play. The thinner the neck of a guitar, the easier it is to move easily between the notes and chords. When I was shopping for guitars last year, test results led to a lot of different models just for the fun of it. I was not familiar with the line of Jasmine Takamine, but found it very easy to use. The neck is very thin and the action (the distance between the strings and the fingerboard) is nice and low, so play them is easy. Epiphones played the guitars were great, but the necks were too big for me to play comfortably, because I have the hands of a child under 12 years old. If your hands are on the large size-of-normal range, the Epiphone would be perfectly right for you. But if your hands are rather small, could be a little difficult to play a larger body guitar with a thick neck. By the way, I love both of the guitars you are considering. You've got great taste!
