Epiphone 60s Neck

Review Of The Les Paul - Epiphone
Features
The Les Paul was constructed in China and has a fantastic finish to it. The scale is 24.75", the neck has 22 frets with the trademark trapezoid inlays. The fretboard is rosewood, which brings out the trapezoid inlays very nicely. The body is fashioned out of a block of high quality mahogany. You can actually feel the quality of the material used and the weight of the guitar, which is heavier then most, adds to the 'finess' of the instrument. The top of the body is book matched flamed maple; however the same guitar can be bought, which has identical dimesions and sound quality, but has a matte design. This will cost you in the regions of £50 less then the maple finish. I personally prefer the flame maple as it adds to the guitar and really looks impressive. The neck is built out of the same material as the body so both the body and the neck feel very similar.
The bridge is the archetypal "tune-o-matic" model, designed in chrome so that they match the tuners. The pickups are a pair of Alnico classic humbuckers, which are very stylish, and really fit the guitar, although if you are a semi professional guitarist, or have a little bit more to spend, a change of the standard pickups could prove useful. There are four adjustments that can be made, two for tone and two for volume. I initially paid £399 for the guitar I consider this to be realy good value as I have played guitars twice that amount and some of them did not come anywhere near matching the Epiphone. Also avaliable to you is a very high quality, hard case for the Epiphone. I am really impressed with this guitar. 9/10
String Resonance
I mainly play hard, late 60s rock with a blues twist so lots of chords for guitar are required and the guitar really excels with these. My main influences while playing guitar are Cream, the Stones and Slash (for the amazing solos!). This guitar, alongside my Line6 Spider IV amplifier gives me all the sound distortions I could want. From rockish distorted tones on the bridge pickup, to awesome melodic solo's on the neck pick up with the tone turned down gives a great rich tone. I have the tone and volume at its highest on the guitar as it makes the overall sound more whole and gives the strings a more natural sound. I truely love the tone of this guitar. Although Epiphone obviously wont be as good as Gibson, but when you consider that a Gibson form of this guitar would put you out of pocket by about £900+, this is a very good competitor for a cheaper model.

Prowess
I didn't buy the guitar before I managed to get my hands on it, and I think it is important to get to experience the guitar beforehand, simply because when you're paying this much for something, you should be able to try before you buy. If you realise that you don't actually like the guitar and it doesn't suit your tastes and actually you don't like it. You cannot get this for certain whilst buying online. I digress... The finished product is of the highest quality, the guitars pickups are quite close and a very tightly attached, a very professional job was done indeed. However, I changed the strings when I got the guitar simply because the quality wasn't as good as Ernie Ball Super Slinky's. The out of the box setup was perfect for me. I didn't have to touch it. The guitars bridge was also set a nice low height which optimized playability, especially with fast phrases and high fretted sequences, and awkward chord shapes which require lots of finger stretching. Saying this, if you really want to adjust the guitar, it can be altered to suit your desires. What I love about this guitar above all was that I got it out the box and it was already in a playable state. I needed to make no adjustments and this can only make my life easier.
10/10
Dependability
I can't really say that much about this except that you can be confident using this guitar whilst playing gigs and it will be fine as long as you have a tough, secure strap. The guitar has decent strap locks attached to it; they are firmly attached and they can take the strain of their own weight easily. I have no need for a spare guitar when I play gigs because this is a guitar which you can rely on. The guitar is still in the same condition as when I got it so it really does last I play it daily and have so far played 3 gigs with it, it is such an exceptional guitar of a very high quality.
10/10
My Conclusion
For all my intensions to do whilst playing, this satisfies all my desires. The features, sound quality and style suit me entirely. From rapid riffs, to slow blues jams to Spanish bops to western chord progressions, the Les Paul has pretty much been the'upper' class of guitar and as soon as I watched Slash smash out some incredible solos I knew I had to have one. With the Epiphone, you have the appearance of a Gibson without the £1000 price attached to it. Although, becoming a guitar God takes a lot of hard work to achieve; the guitar won't be any better then the player.
9/10
